Stephen Roach is Senior Fellow of the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University. In 2022, he joined Yale Law School's Paul Tsai Center China Center. Prior to current role, he was Chief Economist at Morgan Stanley from 1982 to 2007 where he was the head of the multinational investment banks’ global team of economists, before being appointed Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia. Professor Roach is notable for being one of the earliest economists to have predicted the 2008 global financial crisis.He is the author of multiple books including ‘Accidental Conflict: America, China, and the Clash of False Narratives.’
